Ministry of Commerce Launches 'Thai Helps Thai' Discount Event in Udon Thani

On August 1, 2026, Khaosod Online reported that the Thai Department of Internal Trade has launched the 'Thai Helps Thai' initiative in Udon Thani. This event, running from July 31 to August 2, 2026, aims to mitigate the impact of rising living costs, which officials attribute to global energy price increases and international conflicts.

According to Withayakorn Maneenetr, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, the initiative follows directives from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supajee Suthumpun. The event features over 200 booths offering essential consumer goods—including rice, eggs, sugar, and vegetable oil—at discounts of up to 60%.

For residents and visitors in Udon Thani, this event provides an opportunity to purchase daily necessities at reduced prices. The government expects the three-day fair to generate over 10 million baht in sales while providing approximately 3.5 million baht in savings for the public.

While the event is currently underway, it remains to be seen if similar initiatives will be expanded to other provinces to address ongoing inflationary pressures. Residents are encouraged to visit the designated site in Mueang Udon Thani district to take advantage of the promotional pricing before the event concludes.
