Suvarnabhumi Airport Disciplines Security Staff Following Incident with Chinese Fans

Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) has officially apologized and initiated disciplinary action against a security officer following an incident on July 29, 2026. According to a statement reported by Khaosod Online, the incident involved a group of Chinese fans attempting to follow a Chinese artist into restricted areas of the airport.

On the night of the incident, the group followed the artist into a Thai Airways lounge without authorization. After being removed by security, the group reportedly continued to cause disruptions in the boarding area. The situation escalated at the boarding gate, where the fans refused to cooperate with document checks while attempting to board the same flight as the artist. Consequently, the airline denied boarding to 22 individuals involved in the disturbance.

Airport authorities acknowledged that the security officer’s conduct during the intervention was inappropriate and confirmed that disciplinary measures have been taken. For travelers and residents, this incident highlights the airport's strict enforcement of boarding protocols and restricted area access. While the airport has addressed the officer's behavior, it remains to be confirmed if any further legal actions will be taken against the fans involved beyond the airline's decision to deny them travel.
