Legal Investigation Underway Following Alleged Misconduct by Police Officer in Kanchanaburi

On August 1, 2026, a disciplinary committee at Dan Makham Tia Police Station in Kanchanaburi province began formal hearings regarding allegations of sexual misconduct against a police officer. The case involves a 20-year-old university student working part-time as a waitress at a popular barbecue restaurant in Lat Ya sub-district.

According to reports from Khaosod Online, the incident allegedly occurred in May 2026. The restaurant owner previously released CCTV footage appearing to show a Deputy Inspector of Traffic from the Mueang Kanchanaburi Police Station harassing the student. Following the public disclosure, the Kanchanaburi Provincial Police Commander ordered an investigation, which confirmed sufficient grounds to initiate a serious disciplinary inquiry.

Deputy Minister Akkranan has dispatched a legal team and the Ministry of Education’s Rights Protection Center to assist the victim during the proceedings. On August 1, the committee interviewed the victim, the restaurant manager, and the owner to gather testimony.
