Myanmar Leader to Visit Thailand for Bilateral Talks

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul confirmed on July 31, 2026, that Myanmar’s leader, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, is scheduled to make an official visit to Thailand from August 6 to 7. According to Khaosod Online, the visit will include both bilateral and private 'four-eyes' meetings between the two leaders.

The agenda for these discussions covers several critical regional concerns, including the presence of toxic substances in the Kok River, haze pollution, issues involving ethnic minority groups, drug trafficking, and the proliferation of scam centers. Prime Minister Anutin emphasized that the relationship between the two nations remains fundamentally positive and that Thailand is prepared to offer mutual support.

In addition to government-level talks, the Myanmar leader is expected to engage with the Thailand-Myanmar Business Council. The Prime Minister noted that integrating economic and private sector discussions is a standard practice for such diplomatic visits.
