Investigation Underway Following Death of Three-Year-Old in Mukdahan

The incident occurred on July 29 in Na Sok sub-district. Initially, the 24-year-old mother claimed her son had died due to a high fever and loss of consciousness. However, medical staff at the hospital discovered multiple bruises on the child's body, prompting a police investigation.

Following questioning, the 19-year-old stepfather confessed to the authorities. He claimed that on the night of July 28, while the mother was out, he was intoxicated and tripped, accidentally striking the child’s abdomen with his knee. The child became unresponsive the following morning, leading to the mother calling for emergency assistance. Both the mother and the stepfather have been charged with drug use after testing positive for narcotics. The stepfather has been remanded to the Mukdahan Provincial Court.
