New Traffic Fine Enforcement Begins for Vehicle Tax Renewals

As of July 31, 2026, a new enforcement measure regarding traffic violations has taken effect in Thailand. According to a report by Matichon Online, vehicle owners with outstanding traffic fines will no longer receive their official annual vehicle tax disc upon renewal.

Instead of the standard tax disc, motorists who have unpaid fines will be issued a temporary document. This temporary permit is valid for 30 days, providing a grace period for the owner to settle their outstanding traffic tickets. Once the fines are paid, the official tax disc can be collected.
