Thai Government Initiates Review of Over 100 Laws to Boost Business Competitiveness

On July 31, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs, Pakorn Nilprapunt, announced that the Thai government has begun collaborating with the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking (JSCCIB) to streamline over 100 laws that currently hinder business operations. According to Khaosod Online, the initiative aims to reduce operational costs and enhance the nation's economic competitiveness, particularly within the tourism and industrial sectors.

Rather than drafting a comprehensive master plan, which could be time-consuming, the government is working directly with the private sector to identify specific problematic clauses. Once these revisions are drafted, they will undergo public consultation before being submitted to the Cabinet for approval. The government intends to prioritize changes that can be implemented quickly to provide immediate relief to entrepreneurs.
