Academic Criticizes Proposal to Dissolve Sub-district Administrative Organizations

Associate Professor Dr. Boonsong Chalethorn from the Faculty of Public Administration at Rangsit University has publicly opposed the proposal to dissolve Sub-district Administrative Organizations (SAOs) in Thailand. In a recent article, Dr. Boonsong characterized the potential dissolution as a superficial solution that fails to address the core issues within the Thai bureaucratic system.

According to the Thai Post, the academic argues that focusing on the elimination of these local administrative bodies serves as a distraction from the necessary, deeper reforms required for the national government. He suggests that such measures avoid the fundamental restructuring needed to improve public service efficiency and governance.
